BIOGRAPHY
Al Held (b. 1928) remains one of the strongest of the sixties abstractionists both in his forms and in his use of color. Held enrolled in an art class at the Art Students League before moving to Paris in 1949 to study at the Académie de la Grande Chaumiére. When he returned to New York three years later, he embarked on a forty year career as an Abstract painter.
